Welcome to Fortissible and thanks for choosing to visit.
Hello. My name is Lorraine Robinson.
You can see how happy I am that you’re here; the smile on my face is real for sure. Yet the photo I’ve chosen could suggest that I like to surround myself with plants… not exactly true.
What I really enjoy is being amongst people, and that’s because it’s where I see real growth happen.
My professional growth began as a Trainee Manager at McDonald’s. After 10 years in restaurants, I spent the next 20 years working in a variety of learning, development and talent roles across some well-known brands. I consider myself to be fortunate in my career and one of life’s winners.
And I want to help others win too. That’s why I took the decision in 2024 to found my company, so that I could share my learnings and experience with you. It’s fortunate for both of us that you’re ready to become fortissible.
Fortissible - not even a real word!
That’s right, I made it up. I enjoy a little word play so I thought it fitting that my company be a portmanteau – a word blending the meaning of two others, like brunch or sitcom.
My purpose features at the top of this page – to build strength and capability.
Fortissible means just that…
Fortis = strong (also brave and powerful) in Latin
-ible = able to be (extra s is… just because)
There’s also a personal connection. When I moved from Durham to London in 2009, I planted my roots in Fortis Green, North London.
Fortissible can bring a new perspective...
...and add some colour to your world.
A little potted history.
Sowing Seeds
Those who know me would say that I’m a “people person” – the one who creates connections, collects contacts, crafts collaboration. And I trace my curiosity for understanding people and what makes us human back to my teenage years. I remember my dad brought home from work a personality psychometric assessment (16PF) and I had questions, through which I would discover I was a “practical problem solver”. It made a lasting impression.
I’m sure that early insight played a part in my decision to study Psychology at University, where I took modules that focussed on behaviour, cognition and criminology. After Uni, I did consider quite a different path – I wanted to be the UK’s equivalent of FBI Agent Clarice Starling (The Silence Of The Lambs) – perhaps one of my “sliding doors moments”, but I’d say it all worked out well in the end!
Burgers to Brains
It’s not really a surprise that I found myself at McDonald’s; a company that is very much “people-first”, looking after both customers and “crew”. From my early days in customer experience and business management, then moving into the corporate HR world, in every role, I was perfectly placed to continue learning about people and to gain exposure to more psychometric assessments (Belbin, Insights, MBTI, DiSC).
In 2018, I was introduced to Whole Brain® Thinking and the HBDI®, an assessment of thinking preference. With this, came the opportunity to gain a practitioner certification, which reignited a spark in understanding who we are, how we think, what we do and why we do it.
Lorraine's Whole Brain
By taking the HBDI® assessment I discovered that, in Whole Brain® Thinking terms, I’m 2112.
I have a double-dominant profile that confirms a strong preference for a combination of practical (Quadrant B) and relational (Quadrant C) thinking – with lots of natural agility.
That practical problem solving, people person that I knew myself to be as a student, is still how I show up today. And, although my favourite colour is green, you can see the variety of colour in my profile come through in what I love…
Putting more brains to work...
Fortissible at Crouch End Festival
In the Summer of 2025, I had an opportunity to dial up my yellow quadrant (D) thinking. I embraced my creative side and took the brave step of delivering my first public workshop, as part of my local community arts festival.
The Art of Thinking: Discover Your Creative Brain was a 45-minute, thought-provoking and interactive workshop, designed to encourage participants to think about their thinking and explore how their brain and their creativity are connected.
Testimonial: “Grateful to be among the lucky ones who got to attend the workshop. It was incredibly insightful, interactive, and truly inspiring!” – Adnan, CEF2025
Fortissible at PeopleUnboxed
It’s so great to return and continue our work with a growing team. With four new team members on board, they came together once again to reflect on and embrace their cognitive diversity.
A Whole Brain Approach to Navigating Team Change was designed to explore the practical application of individual and team profile insight as it specifically related to the team’s change management and team dynamics.
Testimonial: “I have to say, it was one of the best development sessions I have ever been to!” – Jo, PeopleUnboxed
